Christiano Ronaldo’s Portugal was eliminated from Euro 2024 as they lost the penalty shootout to Kylian Mbappe-led France. The clash took place at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. A plain vanilla play of 120 minutes as both sides struggle to create clear chances saw the scoreboard hanging at 0-0 at full-time in the quarterfinal.
Penalty shootout saw an exceptional performance by France as they scored all of their five penalties but Joao Felix missed for Portugal resulting in an end of Portugal’s journey in Euro 2024 cup.
France thus booked a semi-final showdown against Spain, who sent hosts Germany out of the tournament.
